Max’s Story

"He began to eat everything in sight, chase and wrestle his sisters, and attend school in-person with friends"

Max had surgery for a low-grade glioma brain tumor in October of 2019. On January 8, 2020, he was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). His treatment will continue until April of 2022. Max took his last chemo pill on March 31, 2022, marking the end of 823 days of treatment. Throughout this journey, we have taken it one day at time, sometimes one hour at a time, to stay positive and strong for our brave boy.

During his treatment, Max stopped walking, stopped eating, vomited constantly, and lost all of his hair. He would not eat anything and vomited constantly. The most horrible things a child has to endure became a part of Max’s routine. The hospital tried to get us to use their recommended formula which made him sicker. Even a different organic formula made him sick. We finally found Functional Formularies Nourish for his feeding tube and gave it to him every night as he slept. It is what we used to feed him during his most intensive phases of treatment. He worked hard at physical therapy, learning to walk again.

After treatment, his hair grew back with gorgeous curls. He began to eat everything in sight, chase and wrestle his sisters, and attend school in-person with friends. With every single bump in the road, his constant smile gave us the strength to keep going and face every obstacle with optimism. Thank you Functional Formularies!
