c Expand All C Collapse All b Are your formulas vegan? Our formulas utilize Vitamin D3 in the form of cholecalciferol. D3 naturally synthesizes in your skin during exposure to sunlight and it’s also a commercially prepared supplement made from the lanolin retrieved from washing sheeps’ wool; therefore, it may not be considered vegan for some individuals based on their practices. Other than the D3, our formulas are vegan. b What is my shipment/package is damaged? If you receive ANY units of Liquid Hope Peptide or Nourish Peptide that appear to be bloated, damaged, or leaking to any degree, please contact us immediately at 937-433-4673 / Toll FREE: 1.844.631.8365 and/or send an email to office@functionalformularies.com. Do not open, consume, or wash any product that appears to be damaged. Though rare, damage may happen during shipping. Under those circumstances, and with sufficient proof of damage, your product will be replaced by either your Durable Medical Equipment Company or Functional Formularies. b Is this safe? Our Peptide formulas meet all food safety requirements and meet all GRAS, HACCP, and CGMP standards. Liquid Hope Peptide and Nourish Peptide are produced in a FDA/USDA registered facility with a USDA inspector on site. Our formulas undergo thorough testing before they are released from the manufacturer. Both Liquid Hope Peptide and Nourish peptide formulas are shelf-stable, require no refrigeration, and have a two-year shelf life. b What is the hang time? All of our peptide formulas are approved for a 12 hour hang time. b When can I reach an operator? Someone will be available to take your calls Monday–Friday 9–5pm, EST (excluding major U.S. holidays). Your call is very important to us, so if you receive a recording please leave us a message with your name and number and we will return your call within 24 hours. We can also be reached by email. 937.433.4673 TOLL FREE: 1.844.631.8365 b What is our refund policy? Due to the nature of our products, we cannot return any item to stock. After our product leaves our facility we cannot control how it is stored or cared for. We would never ship previously sold products to customers and we feel that you would not want us to do so. We recommend donating your unopened product to someone else who could benefit from it. We can direct you to our partner organizations that distribute our products to their communities. Our products also can be used orally and make a great protein shake or can be included in many dishes. b Are there seeds in Nourish Peptide Berry Medley? Our Nourish Peptide Berry Medley formula is free from seeds, we deseed the berries before they go into the formula. b Who can benefit from our peptide formulas? Our peptide formulas contain organic hydrolyzed pea protein and organic MCT oil. The protein and fat in our original formulas can be thought of as long pearl necklaces that need to be broken down by the body into individual pearls in order to be absorbed and utilized easily. Our peptide formulas contain short chains of pearls rather than longer chains so that the body does not have to work as hard to absorb and utilize the nutrients. These formulas are most appropriate for those that may have issues that result in malabsorption problems or difficulty utilizing a standard formula. It is a specialized formula and is usually approved only for certain conditions if insurance coverage is needed. It is best to check with your healthcare provider to determine if you have a condition that would benefit from a peptide based formula. b Why did you add Stevia? Is that really natural? Stevia is a plant-based natural sweetener. A 12oz pouch of Nourish Peptide Berry Medley contains a very small amount in the product (stevia is the last ingredient by weight). For patients extremely sensitive to any sweeteners (natural or not), Nourish Peptide is available and does not contain Stevia. b I love berries! Why wouldn’t I switch to this versus keeping my loved one on Nourish Peptide? We love berries too but the Nourish Peptide Berry Medley may not be appropriate for all patients. You may want to use with caution or transition very slowly for patients with GI sensitive conditions such as severe or uncontrolled acid reflux and/or chronic diarrhea. Reflux: The acidic nature of berries may not be well tolerated. Rapid GI transit (diarrhea): While the product has no added sugar, berries naturally contain more sugar. The total sugar grams is slightly higher than Nourish Peptide (6g versus 13g). b What are the benefits of organic pumpkin, apple cider vinegar and cinnamon? The presence of apple cider vinegar lowers the pH of the formula and can be very helpful in lowering the glycemic index. Slightly acidic foods offer better glycemic control and can also improve protein digestion and metabolism. Pumpkin is an exceptionally great source of carotenoids that can be used by the body as a form of vitamin A. Additionally, pumpkin is rich in potassium and vegetable fiber. This type of fiber is most beneficial to gut health. The formula was designed to provide both maximum nourishment and a high level of antioxidants. Cinnamon offers Berry Medley additional polyphenols that have significant antioxidant value and it tastes great when combined with the other ingredients. b How many servings of fruits and vegetables are in one 12oz pouch of Nourish Peptide Berry Medley? There are 2 servings of fruits and vegetables in each 12 oz pouch. The addition of organic berries and our other plant-based ingredients make Nourish Peptide Berry Medley rich in antioxidants and polyphenols. b How would you describe the taste of Nourish Peptide Berry Medley compared to Nourish Peptide? Nourish Peptide Berry Medley has a subtle sweet taste provided by the berries and cinnamon while Nourish Peptide is a savory green pea flavor. There is no added sugar in Nourish Peptide Berry Medley so the sweet flavor is not overly powerful as you may find with other formulas. b Can Nourish Peptide Berry Medley be used as a base to smoothies? Absolutely! Nourish Peptide Berry Medley can be consumed orally without anything added but is also a great high calorie, high protein base for a smoothie. You can easily blend with more fruits, vegetables, or healthy fat sources to change the flavor and/or add more calories! b What is acerola powder and why is it added to Nourish Peptide Berry Medley? Acerola is a natural source of vitamin C. This ingredient has always been present in our formulas but was previously listed in the vitamin blend section versus as a separate ingredient. b What are the primary ingredient differences between Nourish Peptide and Nourish Peptide Berry Medley? Nourish Peptide Berry Medley includes organic blueberries, blackberries, cranberries, pumpkin, cinnamon and stevia for the sweet taste profile as well as organic pumpkin seed protein which are not included in the Nourish Peptide product. Nourish Peptide contains organic garbanzo beans and organic sweet potato which are not in the Berry Medley product. b Can I use Nourish Peptide and Nourish Peptide Berry Medley interchangeably? While both products contain 520 calories per pouch, there are some subtle differences in protein quantity, micronutrients, and ingredients. Because of these differences we encourage you to speak with your healthcare provider to see if using both products interchangeably is appropriate for your individual and unique healthcare needs. b Why does Berry Medley have more sugar than Nourish Peptide? The use of berries as primary ingredients increases the amount of naturally occurring sugar in the formula. There is still a low level of fructose as berries contain very little of that specific type of sugar. b Why are there different types of berries in Nourish Peptide Berry Medley? Nourish Peptide Berry Medley has blueberries, blackberries, and cranberries: Blueberries contain the potent antioxidant anthocyanin which helps protect healthy cells against free radicals that form in the body. Blackberries pack a nutritional punch by being excellent sources of fiber, vitamin C, vitamin E, vitamin K, calcium and manganese. Cranberries have a unique ability to support critical families of gut friendly bacteria. In addition, they contain the lowest level of sugar of any type of berry. b Who should use Nourish Peptide Berry Medley rather than Nourish Peptide? The two can be used by kids somewhat interchangeably. There are slight differences in the amount of protein, fat, and carbohydrates so it is best to follow the guidance of your child’s clinician when determining which formula to use. The biggest difference is the type of fiber found in Nourish Peptide Berry Medley vs Nourish Peptide. Nourish Peptide gets a considerable amount of its fiber from chickpeas in the form of galactooligosaccharide or GOS. Nourish Peptide Berry Medley contains a considerable amount of its soluble fiber content in the form of pectin. Different types of fiber have different effects on aspects of digestion such as transit time and frequency of bowel movements. This difference, as well as the polyphenols and lower pH of Nourish Peptide Berry Medley, may be very beneficial to a child’s microbiome over time. Some children, however, may not tolerate the more acidic Nourish Peptide Berry Medley as well. b Why is the formula brown as opposed to the purple color I expected? Berry Medley, like any other Functional Formularies formula, has a 2-year shelf life and a 12 hour hang time. Achieving these goals requires that the formula be heated to assure that the whole foods have no microbial activity. This heat processing often results in a change in color of the berries. b Is Nourish Peptide Berry Medley covered by insurance? Yes! More than 96% of insurances cover our products (Medicare, Medicaid, and many private insurances). At Functional Formularies we have patient advocates available to help you gain insurance coverage for our products.
